Tolls, parking and city coach fees

Road tolls, parking and city access permits are charged on top of the day rate in most countries. These are the rules that change the price most.

• Japan: Coaches carrying more than 10 passengers must be driven by a commercially licensed driver in a green-plate vehicle; self-drive is not allowed.
• France: Paris requires a PASS Autocar for coaches stopping in the city; one-off passes cost around €112 per stop window.
• Italy: Rome, Florence and Venice charge tourist coaches a daily access permit for their limited-traffic zones (ZTL); in Rome about €150 per day.
• Germany: Coaches are exempt from the German truck toll (Lkw-Maut), so motorway travel adds no toll.
• Switzerland: Coaches pay a flat heavy-vehicle charge; foreign-registered coaches pay it per day at the border.
• Spain: Barcelona requires tourist coaches to book stops and parking through Zona Bus; parking costs about €35 per day.
• Netherlands: Amsterdam limits coaches in the historic centre; groups are dropped at designated coach stops near the centre.
• Austria: Motorways charge coaches a per-kilometre GO-Maut toll by number of axles.
• Czech Republic: Coach charters are commonly priced per kilometre; the empty run from the depot may be charged.
• Portugal: Tourist coaches are banned around Lisbon Cathedral and São Jorge Castle and in parts of the historic centre.
• Belgium: Coaches are exempt from Belgium's kilometre charge for trucks.
• Poland: Coaches over 3.5 tonnes pay the e-TOLL distance charge on motorways and expressways.
• Hungary: Coaches pay the HU-GO distance toll on motorways and main roads.
• Greece: Acropolis visits run on timed entry, so coach arrivals are planned around the ticket slot.
• Croatia: Coaches entering Dubrovnik's Old Town traffic zone must be registered in advance; summer parking at Pile costs up to €10 per hour.
• Denmark: Crossing the Øresund Bridge to Malmö costs about DKK 1,380 per coach each way.
• Sweden: On multi-day trips the driver's hotel and meal allowance are added to the price.
• Norway: Tolls (AutoPASS) and ferries on fjord routes are added to the trip.
• Finland: Finland charges no road tolls for coaches; VAT on coach hire (13.5%) is shown as a separate line.
• Iceland: Iceland prices are estimates: coach operators quote each trip individually, so the final price is confirmed on request.
• Estonia: Estonia prices are market estimates; the final price is confirmed with a local coach company.
• Latvia: Coaches need a Latvian e-vignette for the road network; it is added to the estimate.
• Lithuania: Coaches need a Lithuanian e-vignette; it is added to the estimate.
• Luxembourg: Luxembourg charges no road tolls for coaches.
• Malta: Malta is small: most coach days use far fewer kilometres than the daily allowance.
• Slovakia: Coaches pay Slovakia's electronic toll (eMýto) on motorways and some main roads; it is added to the estimate.
• Slovenia: Coaches pay a distance-based motorway toll (DarsGo); it is added to the estimate.
• Romania: Coaches over 23 seats need a Romanian road vignette (rovinieta, category H); bridge tolls are extra.
